It's Never too Late to Dream

Only a few short years ago, I decided to pursue my lifelong (well, since fifth grade!) dream of becoming an artist. I'd doodled some things here and there for friends, but never believed in myself enough to pursue anything seriously. Even when my agent saw some of my work online and wanted to sign me, I said no. I've never had any formal training and believed I wasn't a "real" artist.

However, my dream wouldn't leave me alone. I visited a local college and asked a marketing director there what he thought of my work. He smiled politely and told me that at my "age" I should "just go home and start a little online shop." Those were his exact words!
Thankfully, my agent persisted in convincing me there was merit in my work (my deepest thanks, Suzanne!) and after two years I agreed to let her rep my art. Around the same time, I was commissioned to create the 2019 Christmas card for the Utah Governor's Office of Economical Development: a snow globe with the state capital. Maybe, I thought, just maybe...even at my "age"...being an artist was possible after all.

My artwork continues to take me on an incredible journey working with national manufacturers, and creating my own brand. I am deeply grateful for the encouragement I have received...and for the discouraging words of that marketing director--his disdain ultimately drove me to work harder!

My message to you is this: it's never too late to pursue your dreams. You're never too old. You have the choice to hone and improve your skills and take them as far as you can imagine. Believe in yourself and shoot for the stars. Don't listen to anybody who tells you that you can't.

I believe in you!

Hugs,

Lori
