Drawn in humble remembrance of my real-life sled dog, Tawny. When I first saw her beautiful face, she was on death row in a local animal shelter for the third time. She was an expert escape artist that no one could control. Tawny and her beautiful daughter, Zaphera, won my heart. But there was lots of work to do. Tawny wanted to be free, and I soon saw that the only way for her to be happy was to do what she was born to do--run. Mushing over snow covered ground in winter, and urban mushing with a wheeled sled in summer, our adventures were among the highlights of my life.
Wanting to honor her, but feeling I could never do her justice, I instead drew my conception of an adventurous and slightly mischievous fictional sled dog I've named Mack.
