Grateful Applique Embroidery Kit for Interchangeable Snap-ons -- and a free Gertie card!
When I was a child, I remember visiting my Uncle Tom at his secluded Idaho mountain farm. Winters were tough, snow drifted several feet deep. His old red tractor helped him plow the road out so he could get to town. Years later, my husband and I inherited his tractor: her name is Gertie. I painted her a few years ago, and in the spirit of the holiday season, decided to turn her into an applique design. I remembrance of my Uncle and his life, I named the design Grateful.
The pattern can be used to created a wall hanging for two seasons--yes, two seasons: fall and winter. That's because with the pattern you can make three mistletoe and berry snap-ons and three fall leaf snap-ons. What do I mean by snap-ons? The mistletoe and leaf sections are attached by simple everyday snaps (not included in kit) that are sewn to their backs, and to the background. You can also use Velcro or hooks. When autumn turns to winter, you simply change out the fall leaves for the mistletoe and berries!

* Printed pattern and finishing instructions
* Suggested stitches with printed stitch instruction diagrams
* Full-size line drawing/placement diagram
* Enough wool blends (see note on blends below) to complete the project in the following colors:
- Berry Barn Red
- Mottled Grey Stone
- Steel Grey
- Mistletoe Green
- Aged Black

Finished project size is approximately 13" x 12"
***The wool blends in this kit are a 25% wool/75% brushed rayon blend. Such blends are often easier for beginners to work with rather than 100% wools. Kit does NOT include snaps, Velcro, or hooks.
Your pattern and or kit is/are safely packaged in a recloseable poly zip bag.
As thread colors are often a matter of personal choice, embroidery threads are NOT included in the kit. Here are the Valdani Perle 8 cotton threads I used for this project:
5 - Light Ecru
P4 - Aged White Light
O126 - Old Cottage Grey
JP8 - Spring Leaves
P1 - Old Brick
O154 - Dark Antique Golds
O196 - Muddy Bark (for vines)
O522 - Raspberry (for tiny berries on vines)

***WOOL BLENDS: The fabrics in this kit are a 25% wool/75% brushed Rayon blend. I often use these blends in many of my kits because they are easier to work with than 100% wools. I have many moms and grandmas who want to share their love of wool applique embroidery with their children and grandchildren--these blends offer a great starting point. As an option to 100% wool, my students find them more user friendly when just starting out--that includes several of my students in their eighties who enjoy the ease of cutting and stitching them!
